Confess-Things you have learned from "the box" (TV)
Okay some of you claim not to watch any TV which frankly seems odd to me. My brother and I agree that if you are in the house the TV is ON!.

Okay here are some of mine.

To be quite honest without Hogan's Heroes I would not have been nearly as aware of the Geneva Convention as I am.

Being a gameshow fanatic as a kid I have tons of absolutely useless knowledge accumulated in my head.

I now know (should the need arise) how to construct a Hoover Dam thanks to the Discovery Channel-who HASN'T seen that documentary?

I will always feel good about myself after watching the VH1 Behind the Music of Leif Garrett.

Okay just a few-what has "the box" taught you?

2. God always backs a winner.
Players on teams that win always thank God. Losers never blame him, though. So, God backs the winners.

7. Walker!
Walker: Texas Ranger has taught me that if you're really cool and can do karate and stuff, then you'll be invincible.

8. I Have Learned Tons of History, Science and Geography
I like all those educational channels.

For example: the Panama Canal was not built straight through from one ocean to the other -- the path crosses a small mountain range. To avoid blasting enormous amounts of rock, the boats are lited way above sea level and cross the ithsmus at quite an altitude.

The Canal was also built to accomodate the Titanic. Although the Titanic never went through the canal, it was the largest commercial ship in 1904 and was the canal was designed to that standard.

The US also practiced some political chicanery to get the canal built. Teddy Roosevelt supported a local revolt against Columbia (which included Pamana in those days). With US backing, the revolutionaries succeeded in breaking away from Columbia, but in exchange were absorbed and became a US possession.

That just came up in conversation last night. It's like asking what you learned in college.

10. Gosh, where to start, tons of stuff,
From the smallest parts of atoms to the edge of the Universe.

From bottom of the oceans to the top of Everest

From Piltdown man to the Einstien

The most interesting bit recently was about the earth's magnetic poles being on the verge of flipping.

There is hardly ever a show on Nature that takes an indepth look at a particular animal or exotic local that isn't thought of as a compressed vacation. Where else could you see so much in so little time but in such detail.

This is pretty much all PBS shows, on regular TV, long pause......
ok after several minutes thinking the 60 minute show is the only one that seems to impart any information. The orginal tonight show before the j da jerk there was always a blend of informative topics. Thanks again Johnny for Carl Sagan.

11. This is what I've learned
That on TV - no matter where you are - there is always a parking spot available right in front of the place you want to go. Even if that place is located in a downtown city where parking spots might be impossible to find
