Babylon5 fans - Richard Biggs (Dr. Stephen Franklin) has died
Edited on Mon May-24-04 10:50 AM by Love Bug
Maybe this was posted here this weekend, but I just heard from a fellow fan that Richard Biggs, who played Dr. Stephen Franklin on Babylon 5, died Saturday from what appears to be either an aneurysm or a massive stroke. The writer/producer of Babylon 5, J. Michael Straczynski, made the announcement on the message board of his website:

http://www.jmsnews.com/home.aspx

I am stunned. I just saw Richard Biggs at a scifi convention in March. He was a talented, funny, smart, vital man. He leaves a wife and 3 small children.

I remember he spoke about making the decision a few years ago to pursue having a family life, even though it would possibly hold him back in his acting career. To the contrairy, his career was doing just fine, since he had been steadily working since B5 was cancelled in 98.

I also believe he was politically liberal, based on some of his remarks (which I don't recall specifically).

This is a damn shame. He was only about 50--much too young to go. I feel for his family and friends. :-(

3. Richard was a guest
at my first convention, Rebelcon in 1996. (My own first convention--I've been going to conventions for over 30 years)

He was a delightful guest, professional and polite. He will be missed.

4. Well, that makes me sad.
Richard Biggs was one of my favorite performers on the show.
He was also one of the best on the show, too.

8. Favorite Dr. Franklin non-quote:
The smirk on his face was priceless after Sheridan tells Bester:

"Oh you could (take Lyta). And I could nail your head to the table, set it on fire, and feed the charred remains to the Pak'Mara. Now sit down!"
