21. Yeah! Let's take up a collection!!
let's pay to move every brick-brained idiot who thinks that any group of people can get together and hammer out a "Christian Nation" without it resulting in the same kind of fighting and debate we have in the secular world. And then, once they're all over before, but before they realize the hell they've created, we close the border and say "Oops, sorry - you left. Can't come back. In fact, you can't even visit."

What an assassine idea. Do they really think they can make a "pure" "Christian" nation? They'll kill each other once they get over their agreement on banning homosexual marriage. The big argument will be over the law about the official, state version of the Bible to use. Then another huge-ass argument over what form of creation science to teach. Then another squabble and divisive war over state mandated age of baptism. Eventually, they'll be 3,800 little nations.

52. I'd hate to think of their new "Old Testament" based legal system
Which I'm sure they'd consider to be just like the Holy US Constitution, the other document they worship, except theirs wouldn't have a bill of rights or anything like that, but yet that fact would always elude them.

Instead of innocent until proven guilty, it would be "We would never try an innocent man as that would be immoral, so you must be guilty. If you were innocent, you wouldn't be here."

And while they'd get their wet dream of mandatory Principal-led prayer-time in their new "Bible-based" schools, they will quickly explode into a thousand factions debating the proper time for those prayers, the minimum lengths they must be, and how to properly punish any students who giggle or raise their heads during prayer time ("We should hit them with rulers, like the Bible says !" - "No, they should be ridiculed by the class, like the Bible says!" - "No, they should be sent home without lunch and a note to their parents to spank the child, like the Bible says" - "No, they be spanked right there and then, like the Bible says")

63. Yes, they do hate it.
Edited on Tue May-25-04 12:05 PM by Rabrrrrrr
Even though they say they are the best patriots, they really, if they would face themselves, hate America. What they love is a Fundamentalist-Christian-only Light-On-The-Hill America that has never existed, but which they are absolutely sure DID exist, and WAS America, until the 1960s. They say they love America, but they hate that OTHER, non-fundy-Christian, non-white people get to take advantage of the right to liberty, life, and the pursuit of happiness. They hate civil rights, they hate the law treating people equally. In fact, if you inspect their churches (and I'm talking only fundies here), you will see that they hate democracy and group consensus. They like - in fact, psychologically, they are built to NEED - authority from on high, a single person who makes decisions and gives them the truth.

I'd love to watch them implode.

I wonder why they don't just look around and see how much they also hate each other? They all claim to have the truth, but a lot of these people come from completely independant churches - not even affiliated with a denomination - because they're so sure that other churches have it wrong. How can they possibly expect to form a country together, unless they limit it to about 50 people? And then, because they never stop rutting, the next generation will be too big to manage a peaceful "Christian theocracy" and then it will implode.

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

Mayeb we should offer to BUILD them a place they can make their own nation.

Seriously - I like this idea! Give all the religious numnuts their own state and leave the rest of us alone. Go ahead, bye-bye. Just allow the normal folks of that state the ability to move out so they aren't tortured with your laws (and help pay for their move, I'm sure you have some rich fundie who can pay for the to leave).

58. Hey, people, NOT ALL
CHRISTIANS ARE LIKE THE FUNDIES! I'm a liberal Christian with a strong faith who's very involved in my church and I resent these Taliban fundies as much as you do. They can all move to hell for all I care. But they are NOT TRUE CHRISTIANS! They have hijacked and twisted and distorted Christianity beyond recognition, and it makes me sick to see it.

Please, though, PLEASE do NOT lump ALL Christians in with these people. I guarantee that they do NOT represent the majority of Christians in this country or anywhere else. I am not like them, and neither are any other Christians I know and associate with. So I think it's a little unfair to lump us all together.

If these "Christians" use Christmas trees, dyed eggs, chocolate bunnies, and such, they're following pagan rituals and are therefore NOT Christians!

Not to forget these Biblical quotes, which I doubt they keep in mind:

Ecclesiasticus 13:3-8 (1)

Ecclesiasticus 13:16, 18-23 (1)

Ecclesiasticus 20:1

1 Timothy 6:10 (money is the root of all evil)

Matthew 5:44

Matthew 7:1

Matthew 25:37-40

Luke 6:31

Luke 17:21

(1) The New Jerusalem Bible, Doubleday Publishing, 1989. This is the fun part about organized religion. So many people have translated the original texts in so many ways, no two versions are alike. Then there's the validity of the "original" text to consider...

In other words, they are faux Christians.
