Conan O'Brien: Yes or no?
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to scrounge up money to donate to DU, and dno't have a star, but I'll make a pseudo-poll anyway.

It seems like everyone is very strongly opinionated about Conan O'Brien - no one thinks he's "okay.", they either love him or they hate him. This theory was evidenced further to me after I read these reviews on IMDB. I call it "The Radiohead Effect."

So, I'd just like to ask: Conan O'Brien: yes, or no? No need to elaborate, but if you feel like it, go ahead :)

1. No.
He's not funny. In fact, he's about as funny as Bob Saget was on Full House. :puke:

23. I can accept your criticisms of Conan O'Brien,
but I'll be damned if I'll tolerate Saget-bashing!!! That's downright un-American!

Let me remind you of the words of Bob Sage-t:

"Marijuana is not a drug. I used to suck dick for coke. Now that's an addiction. You ever suck some dick for marijuana?”

I tell you, those words should be memorized by schoolchildren, along with the words of Lincoln and Shakespeare.

</sarcasm>

19. When I saw the first episode like that
I was literally scared I might laugh so much I'd suffocate - Walker, Texas Ranger, has got to be the gimmickist, stupidst, worst-acted show on television, and Conan got that right on the button.

The introduction of the "Axel F" button was good, but I'm glad it only lasted one episode... that song gets old very quickly. The combination Axel F and WTR clip was comedic gold :D

It's such a great diversion when one of Conan's jokes doesn't go so well.

He really shouldn't be so hard on himself. And there are times when I wish he still had a sidekick...

39. It still runs on USA
Coincidentally, as a rerun of one of the Conan lever episodes was running, Walker Texas Ranger was running on USA. I don't think ever in my life I've laughed so hard.

21. Sometimes.
You have to figure that somebody who wrote for The Simpsons is going to have occasional moments of brilliance, and he does. Other times he's just stupid. He likes the Zappa brothers and Moxy Fruvous, though, so he can't be all bad. :)

with the "interviews." Not saying this is a bad thing (because I have supported Kerry since Al Gore announced he wasn't running).

Making Lieberman fall asleep while speaking and Kucinich get eaten by a frog nearly killed me.

Conan's made only one donation: to Chris Dodd of CT. Of course, he may have given lesser amounts to other candidates.

36. Not allowed? Kelsey Grammer made a $1000 donation to Bush
either late last year or early this year - while he was still in the employ of NBC. Is it really not allowed?

37. he's an actor not a host
there's a rule against hosts donating to specific politicians or something. That's why Jay Leno didn't donate to Arnold (at least directly)

who should at least maintain an air of objectivity, but a talk show host? That's just silly.

Just a hair in front of Letterman - who also still rocks after all these years.

Leno... not funny. Not funny at all...

And, he's an Irish-Catholic Democrat born in Brookline, MA...

...just like this guy.

35. Conan O'Brien is very nice...
FOR ME TO POOP ON!!!

I like the show. Sometimes I tune in and he gets on my nerves but overall I think he's funny. Triumph is great. I think his best episode ever is the one with Janeane Garofolo where Triumph goes to the MTV music awards and gets in a fight with Emenem. I nearly pissed my pants.

41. Love him
He (and Jon Stewart,) make me laugh till I cry. When he got married in my hometown (Seattle,) I resisted the impulse to beg him to reconsider. I'm sure this had something remotely to do with the fact that I'm married to someone else...

Conan also has the best band on television.

42. Yes
Friday's show was so loose and weird. It reminded me of Ernie Kovacs. I thought the show would lose a lot when Andy Richter left but Conan has found his own way. I like when he jokes with the band. It's funny, unlike when Leno or Letterman do that.

44. Nope. I've never given him a chance. Can't get past the first few
minutes, during which he inevitably irritates me beyond all reasonable bounds. There's just something about him that I can't define...sort of like the dude who used to have seizures at the sound of Mary Hart's voice.
