I just finished posting on Yahoo! boards.
And I'm freaking exhausted. Not only do you have to do battle with the rightwing idiots, there are the right-wing idiots who POSE as liberals posting crap like "I hope lots more US Troops get killed in Iraq because then Bush will look like a chimp and Kerry will win. Go Kerry!"

Oh that burns me. I hate that crap. Republicans are fucking EVIL!

1. Why waste time on Yahoo?
It is filled with crass posts that flame people. There are people on this planet that cannot be reasoned with, and Yahoo is full of them.

3. For the very opposite reason why I post here.
I love DU, don't get me wrong, and I am VERY liberal. But I am NOT "politically correct" in all areas, and there are some opinions I have that would get me either flamed here or kicked out. (Don't even get me started on ebonics...)

And even when I express the straight-up liberal democrat point of view on something, I like to be able to do it in a hostile way, with profanity and personal attacks to a right-winger. It gives me a great feeling to be able to "come out fighting", instead of being all mealy-mouthed and whiny as liberals are expected to be.

I've gotten in trouble here for getting into arguments with "moderate" (Dare I say DINO?) posters here because I can sometimes go off on people. "MuddleoftheRoad" (now defunct) was one that I often got into tussles with. I didn't especially dislike him, but we got into it a few times...

I guess all I'm trying to say is, I like the near absolute freedom of Yahoo (though I hate the vileness of many of the rightwing posters), while I love the controlled liberal environment of DU, but I resent the slightly overly-stringent PC and "civility" codes.

Oh well, you can't have everything :)

4. If it's FR....
I've been registtered there a couple of times, and I never last more than one or two posts.

I can't control myself - I just go off on them.

Even for merely defending Hillary and Janeane, I got the boot in no time.

5. ProtestWarrior.
You don't get banned there. It's still 90% conservative.

7. Shouldn't go to Yahoo Delano!
We must turn an eye once again to the great writer Jonathan Swift, whose novel "Gulliver's Travels" is the inspiration for the company!

"He was convinced (as he afterwards told me) that I must be a Yahoo, but my Teachableness, Civility, and Cleanliness, astonished him; which were Qualities altogether so opposite to those Animals..."
(Swift, GT)

It is, so it appears, implied in their very name that they are uncouth and uncivilized.

Now, if you'd only thought of the book before you went charging onto those groups, you would have avoided the frustration. ;)

Well. That was entertaining.

:)
