Seems to sell like crazy, as it is already sold out in many places.

You can order the UK-version on www.cd-wow.com (free shipping to US AFAIR).
Your DVD-Player must be capable of playing Region2 DVDs and your TV must understand the PAL-format to use it.

7. Yes: that is correct

European DVDs won't play on unmodified DVD-players and your TV must be PAL compatible as well.(Many modern TV-sets are, if you use a component cable)

VHS tapes won't work with American VCRs and have the same TV-set issue.

One of the dupe posts was numbered (#4), the other was not.

But yes, do not run foreign DVDs unless you know what you are doing. I tried it a couple of years ago on Windows Millinium and got a message about changing the default location or something like that. Like an idiot, I did. It totally screwed up the DVD-viewing program (can't remember which one). I had to call Dell tech support and completely re-load Windows.
