The Zen of Lawnmowing.
I just did 3 hours of it.....walk around, no lawn tractor here; lose your conscious mind in the 3.5HP, 4 cycle mantra......in close precision and ordered patterns to efficiently pick-up overgrown (again) grass. Nothing quite like surveying the results with an ice cold beer or 2.

Blissfully tired, going to watch the Sox kick Yank Ass......this is summer.

1. I prefer the Zen of hiring a Gardener.
Nothing quite like surveying the results with an ice cold beer or 2.

2. #1: One can consume massive quantities
of beer on a riding mower. With the 5 cent deposit on cans & bottles, it's the closest thing to getting paid for mowing your own lawn there is. #2: After mowing the lawn, it's more fun to watch the best darned baseball team, the New York Yankees. (grin) Enjoy the game; may the best team win!

3. Patterns. It's all patterns.
Round and round the yard.
Concentric...circles?...rectangles?
Very zen.

5. Back in the days of human-powered lawnmowers
my parents had a neighbor that would drink a beer down about every other swath or two. It was kind of fun watching him get plastered. :)

8. What do you mean "back in the days"
We've got a human-powered lawnmower. Two of them, in fact. Slick, modern, European-made ones. And they're all we need for our not-very-much lawn.

6. Be As One With The Grass
Mowing it down and sucking up a 12-Pack in the summer heat during the process.
