Spent some time this afternoon watching squirrels...
...gorge themselves with bird food from my "squirrel proof" bird feeder. There are 3 regulars in my back yard and they each have a different way of eating their fill. Yeah, I chase them away from time to time but they always come back for more. Guess I'll have to get a big dog and station her/him nearby. Then again, bird food is cheaper than dog food or even squirrel food. What a dilemma???????

1. But aren't they fun to watch,
so clever. We've got 4 in our yard and they're absolutely crazy.

3. if you really want to keep them squirrels out of the bird food
i've seen a product that is made from a pepper that the squirrels dont like but the birds can't taste. never used it tho, cant vouch for its effectiveness.

course, some folks dont mind if squirrel eat some of the bird food.

4. Squirrels gotta eat too
I look at them as the clowns of the animal world because they are so entertaining to watch. My squirrels do back flips on the grass when they find buried food. :) Sure, they eat my bird food but I don't mind, I can always buy more. It's not their fault they were born in my back yard.

7. I have a "Wanted" T shirt with a squirrel holding a card with his number--
both front and profile just like a real Wanted poster.

He is wanted for stealing birdseed with a street value of $2.98(or something like that).

Lots of comments when I wear it.

8. The squirrels in Florida
were real weenies. They would run along the fence to the bird feeder, then the dog would chase them away. Here in Texas they are much more agressive. They will just "stand their ground" and hiss at him and drive him nuts.

10. I just throw birdseed down on my driveway
and the squirrels and the birds share. I've had as many as 10 squirrels at one time. The birds don't seem to bother the squirrels and I know that the squirrels don't bother the birds.

11. Just give in - and add some peanuts to the mix
in the shell. They will love you for it.
