Pardon my ignorance, but I didn't know potatoes was typically mexican food? :) Maybe it's kind of like how rice pudding is a tradition at christmas, in Norway.

not a staple, but definately consumed. of course, the Mexi-Nugget was a tater tot with spicy salt. I don't even think that makes the school lunch menu in Mexico.
