Poll question: Fave comic writer-artists:
Edited on Fri Jul-11-03 03:48 PM by Rabrrrrrr
Here're the dudes what I think are at the top of the genius list (except richard and wendy pini, but they did interesting stuff, anyway) of comic book writer artists.

Let's see they do against one another!

(maybe we'll do just writers another time, so that we can include the other important grandmaster genius, Alan Moore)

on edit: grammar fix; spelled sienkiewicz correctly

1. Write-in vote...

...for Bill Griffith, creator of "Zippy the Pinhead." He's been doing that strip for 30+ years and is surreal as ever. Plus, in recent years, he became a resident of my homestate of Connecticut.

Way to go, Bill!

2. While the others have more talent
The Pini's get the nod from me for being nicer to their fans.

8. That's very true!
I enjoyed meeting them, and they answered my letters. It meant a lot to me when I was a kid and WAY into Elfquest.

:)

"The Spirit" is still amazing after all these years.

5. Eisner is God
and that's a fact, jack.

From the first time I came across, I've been a smitten fan.

Can anyone draw rain as well as him? No, of course they can't.

4. Chris Ware
Without a doubt. I know he's relatively new to the game, and has only put together one HUGE book and a series of comics (The Acme Novelty Library) but Ware's Jimmy Corrigan, in terms of its visual and literary merit, is the greatest graphic novel I've ever read.

11. Yes, another great one!!
Love his work.

Alas, there were only ten spots available in the poll, and thus, he is left off, along with some other good ones. But I think these are the tops.

Corben's work is beautiful, but to me, it all becomes kind of the same painting/drawing after a while. Like Frazetta, Boris, or the H. Brothers whom I love, but each seems to have but one mode of operating.
