2. My favorite note
I play clarinet so of course Bb is my favorite note unless I am playing my Eb. I don't like my A.

11. HI!
I don't take mine anywhere, I just gig around the area. I have a set, Bb,A and Eb Buffets. I use 3 1/2 Vandoran V12's to rehearse and 4's if I can get them worked well. I always use 4's with the Eb, I seem to need the extra support with all those high notes. What do you use?

I have never played the bass before, did you like it?

Are you anywhere near Boone? Do you know Phil Muncy Woodwinds? He is a very nice guy. I met him at several clarinet symposiums and he has been very helpful over the years.

What mouthpiece and ligature set are you using?

22. I only played the bass for about 2 months ...
and then I snuck my way back to the soprano clarinet section . I like Rico brand clarinet reeds myself . Size 2 1/2 . Every now and then I get a size 3 . But I am stubborn I use size 2 1/2 lol .

I am about 5 hours east of boon in the central part of the state . I think I have heard of Phil Muncy woodwinds . Now I have to check him out for sure .

18. I was... back in the horse and buggy days...
In high school and college I was. Would love to again, but even used Bass Clarinet's cost a little more than I can afford. Gave into the dark side about ten years ago and bought a regular B flat clarinet at a pawn shop, but it just doesn't cut it....

19. I guess once you
are used to those big old pedal tones you can never go back! Funny. I adore my little Eb soprano. I like playing it more than anything. Partly because our symphony always plays one or two things with it every year and they are most always such character parts with some outrageous solos. I lack the ham gene with my Bb but put that little efer in my hands and I will wail. It is such a Fisher Price instrument.

I have not priced instruments in a while but I do remember they had really jumped in price the last time I looked. Have you looked at the Musicians Union paper? They have a lot of good sources. I have not gotten that paper in a while since our union was disbanded but you might find it online somewhere. If I run into anything I will let you know.

21. prett much, although...
Those huge, deep, resonanant tones-- rich as the earth and full of the soul of an old man are why I fell for the horn in the first place... it also helped that there were so few Bass players, I could do a merely passable job during auditions and still clinch first chair in regional, state and city competitions. :7

Saw my first soprano clar in regional youth orchestra in 1983. Gave the player so much hell about how funny it looked. Started dating her a month later. SO LET'S HEAR IT FOR SOPRANO CLARINETS!!!

Thanks. Do keep me in mind if you find one at a reasonable price. Never even thought of the Musicians Union paper. In fact, never even thought of using the internet (hey, it's been a long time!). Maybe I have a new project for off-time during the week :)

23. Try E Bay
I hate E bay but they do have some good deals. I once bid on a C clarinet since that would be a really fun thing to have only to find out that the guy selling it was totally wrong, it was an old Eb. Oh well. Anyway, be careful if you find one there and make sure you can send it back if it is awful. Funny that your wife played efer! Not too many of us out there.

I played the piano for 8 or 9 years growing up. Funny thing is that I haven't played it in so long I would be lucky to even know which key is B Flat and B Sharp...LOL

10. I like the key F# (Strange Enough)
When I was 8 and learning how to "Jam" all the Guitar players I knew were ummmm...rather limited, so they played in E or A which
of course, is E or A on the Piano (my second instrument) But F# and B
on Tenor Sax.
