There, I said it.

Fuck him and his ridiculous obfuscatory speech of lies and misleading nontruths.

Fuck you, Mr. Shrubbie ToddlerEgo. Fuck you.

2. Sure!
Though I'm sure it'll end up as some kind of weird RICO/PATRIOT Act/SEC/Bob Jones University Curfew Laws mega-auction of stuff confiscated from the "criminally insane".

9. Thank you for saying this. I was also outraged by the lies
that they all told. And I was disheartened by the belief that I could see in the eyes of the benighted who were listening. I am very afraid, but your post gives me hope.

it was worshipful. They were all having a religious moment watching and listening to him. Some people were crying joyfully in religious ecstacy.

These people are messed up. Way messed up.

Yeah, we like Clinton a lot, but I don't think any of us look at him as though he were a Divine Being sent to save us.

The rightwing Christian idiot mindset is dangerous. It's also stupid, but most importantly, it's dangerous. They don't have the capacity to look at a government leader as just a guy who's been elected - he's either appointed by God to save us, or appointed by God to punish us and/or try to laed us astray.

They simply cannot understand that a person could rise to power and still be a normal human being. The situation HAS to involve God somehow for them.

And that's pretty damned dangerous.

That's why Shrubbie McCokeSpoon can lie so much, because the religious right was able to make him out to be a good Christian. So now he can do whatever the hell he wants, because he has Divine sanctification.

13. Bill Maher mentioned this, tonight.
That's the reason that I found this so scary. They believe every lie he tells, even though we are engaged in this horrible and bloody morass in Iraq, which he chose to wage, with no good reason, and this country is in real trouble, both domestically, and in the standing of the rest of the world. Bush* said that God told him to attack Iraq. If anyone else said this, they would be locked up or put on serious anti-psychotic medications. But these people are supporting him. I am just scared to death.:scared:

This is deserving of great scaredness. Religious zealotry and idiocy can lead to untold massive destruction.

16. I have always been scared of religious zealotry,
and now we are saddled with a president who is a religious zealot. And he is doing well in the polls. I just don't get it. This is not a country of religious zealots. Most people don't attend church. But maybe these are the ones who vote. I also agree with Ariana Huffington who said that we should forget about the "swing voters," and concentrate on those who don't traditionally vote. Those are the ones that we need. We cannot afford apathy in this election cycle. But what other national crisis do we need to get people's attention?!:wow:

an immense organization: The Church.

Separation of church & state is all well and good, but you can't keep preachers from adding things like "may God continue to bless America through her godly leader" to their sermons. :scared:

Of course, he does not act godly nor like a follower of Christ even attempting to emulate his saviour. But try to tell that to any of his believers. They'll say, for example, "Oh, no, he's not perfect, but when he bans stem cell research" or "when he fights for a constitutional amendment to ban gay 'marriage' <[they always put it in quotes when they're talking about Gay Americans>] I know he's doing God's will."

edited to ask: just how in the hell do you set something off in brackets that OUGHT to be in brackets, according to rules of grammar?

23. Post your message using plain text, not HTML
I had that problem when I first came to DU and made somebody ill with an accidentally scrolling message, oops!

Because George Bush* always evokes God in his speeches, I even notice newscasters doing it, these days. We need to retain the separation of Church and State, and will not get this while he remains in office. It will only get worse. Our forefathers, who experienced religious prejudice, added this for a very good reason. We can no longer let George Bush* rewrite our Constitution. I am totally appalled that he has manage to get away with it for this long. We tend to give an individual's religious beliefs a pass, but he has totally crossed the line, making his part of government policy. I am also scared.:scared:

Let me comment to say you're damn right about the church/state thing.

If ShitHead gets elected again, it's gonna get worse - way, way, way worse.

Can we remember the pics of swastikas with the cross in the churches of Germany? I've seen 'em. Scary. We're gonna see the same thing here.

And my church, being a gay and woman friendly church, is gonna be one of the first to go.

Though at least it'll give me the chance to be an underground Christian, fighting for my life, much like the early Christians in the Roman Empire. I bet that sonofabitch brings back arena combats and throwing the "criminals" to animals.

I don't think I've ever had a thread live so long. :-)

Now if I can just get people to read my Labor Day rant against Chimpy McAWOLFuckWad, I'd be even happier. :-)
