2. Wine mostly
Some liquor -- gin, rye, very occasionally something sweet or frou-frou.

No beer, though. I never managed to acquire a taste for beer.

4. Nothing like a beer buzz...
that I know of. I developed a taste for beer about 3 years ago, after disliking it for most of my life. Wine is good but you don't get that same buzz, and liquor just knocks me off my @ss. I'll take a good microbrew with dinner any day of the week.

8. Ditto on the beer.
Wine makes me sleepy, and although a nice stiff drink has a time & place, I'd much rather sit down with an ice cold brew.

I never liked beer until I went to Europe and tasted the REAL stuff. And then the microbrewery explosion came, woohoo!

6. It is fully impossible to pick one.
For sheer profundity of experience, nothing can touch a fine wine. For social drinking, a glass of beer is unparallelled. For "leave me the fuck alone, I am getting wasted in order to ease this fucking pain," liquor is king.

Sure, there is some overlap. A top-notch malt can provide depth one seeks in a perfectly aged grand cru, as can a lambic or Trappist ale. There are many outstanding quaffing wines that are perfect for social drinking; likewise, mixed drinks work well. And wine and beer can get you just as drunk as hard liquor on those times you just need to numb it all.

Ye gods, booze! :loveya:

7. Lager lager lager
Beer. Life doesn't get better than an afternoon of footy, a cold beer and a pizza.

9. Ale ale ale
A nice hoppy American pale ale, a mellow brown ale from North England, a German Kolsch, a Belgian blonde ale, a Scottish 80 shilling ale - doesn't get any better than those.
