2. average price
Since 2.0 GHz will turn out to be a celeron. Not worth it.

Realize this, the new computers out there are nearing 4 GHz, so this will be 1/2 that speed. 20 GB hard drive is crap!

5. $297 is a fine price for that system
even if you were to build it yourself, you'd spend $200 for the CPU and motherboard, once you add in drives, power supply, case, etc. you'd end up spending $400 or so to build the same system yourself.

11. I also build systems and sell them
Unless you're buying huge quantities, that's a pretty decent price.

4. The price is good.
One thing not listed though. . . does that price include an operating system?

I've seen systems sold at cheap prices with no OS before. If that's the case, add another $150 or so to the price for an OS.

If it does include the OS, that's an excellent price.

6. Not a bad deal...
But, I would go with at least 512 megs of RAM, maybe a faster processor, and the 80 gig Hard Drive. I also would like a DVD+/-RW, but you could always add that later. Don't forget, this does NOT include a monitor, or speakers. I'm also curious about the "premiun" ATI video card, I would want nothing less than a RADEON 9000.

9. I get the same e-mails at my workplace, from the SAME company... RIPOFF!!!

They do this OFTEN.

What type of ATi video card?

A hard drive cannot be upgraded. One can add a 80GB hard drive or replace the 20GB drive with an 80GB drive, but it can't be upgraded.

Ditto for the CD-ROM drive.

"Internet ready"? 56k modem? DSL modem? Cable modem? NIC?

128MB RAM?!?!

2.0GHz CPU? Is it a Celeron or Pentium IV? (I bet it's a Celeron)

For $700?! RIP OFF.

I could build something FAR MORE CAPABLE, and NEW, for $700. (3GHz AMD CPU, 120GB HD, Nividia 5950 Ultra video, sound blaster live or audigy, 512MB RAM...

A cheap entry level desktop with those specs would be closer to $500, and would still be better equipped.

That company is ran by thieves.

10. It's barebones, NOT top of the line, but price is ok.
Plenty good enough for basic computing, web surfing, email, etc... Not good enough for the latest cutting edge games, but still plenty of room for fun.
