1. Chiefs will win
Or I'm gonna need to crawl in a hole and die, rather than go to work.

Unfortunately, we are both gonna be sad over this one. Bears are decimated.

and just who the hell is Jonathon Quinn?

8. gender ain't got shit to do with it
But in the 'macho' world of Dallas football, it's enough to provoke, isn't it?

I can't tell you how much I fucking despise that organization and their obnoxious fans. All my life I have mocked and ridiculed South America's Team. Only the Raiders and Broncos incite similar derision, but their fans can't even hold a crack pipe to the fucking twits who represent the team in the stands.

9. I have to wonder...
how many actual Cowboy fans you've met in person. Because I was raised about an hour from Dallas and the Cowboys have been MY team all my life. Most of the lifelong Cowboy fans I know are not "obnoxious" or "fucking twits".

Now granted, the newbie fans who jumped on teh bandwagon when the 'Boys were good in the mid-90s were annoying...but they aren't Cowboy fans anymore...they've moved on to whatever the flavor of the month is.

10. went to school with a bunch growing up
The Landry/Dorsett/Staubach days. My best friend in the late 70's not only grew up in Plano, but wore a Dorsett jersey. It was his worst character flaw, being proud of Dallas. Living in Redskins country (I hate them too), the Dallas fans made themselves visible.

Plus, seeing lots of games on TV and how they act. Just want to muzzle the entire ignorant redneck lot of them. All those bible-thumpers with big hair and fake red nails, yelling bloody murder. Crew-cut fascists with a look of rage befitting Timothy McVeigh... just scary folks.

Every NFL fan (well, knowledgable ones) across the country, no matter which team they like, will tell you, Dallas fans rank alongside Oakland's as the worst of the worst.

Of course, I think Dallas the city is a cesspool, although not as bad as Houston. Which is like saying jock itch is not as bad as athlete's foot.

11. It's not Dallas so much...
as it is the suburbs of Dallas. :scared:

And as someone who has actually been to Cowboy games in person, I have to say that my experience didn't match what you described...but that could be because I was in the cheap seats.

4. Good lineup, but
I'll take the Packers over the Giants and, what will not be considered an upset in a few weeks, Jaguars over Colts.

To add to your suffering, Donovan McNabb is going to shine in his hometown today. He will be the monster of the midway.

23. One of my students was killed in a car crash Friday night.
Edited on Sun Oct-03-04 02:30 PM by Catshrink
He was a senior. We are still in shock.

His car was t-boned by a pickup -- it is unclear whether he ran a stop sign or the driver of the truck did. Either way, it's a waste of a young life and a great kid!

15. ZW tries to save his butt....
Let me guess your thought process:

Hm, I really want to say the Eagles -- for monetary reasons. But if I don't pick the Bears, Catshrink will be totally pissed at me. OK... I'll pick the Eagles but include a CMA comment about my true feelings. So it's:

Eagles over Bears (although I am wishing otherwise)

Sigh..... I just hope the Giants stomp the Packers. That would be beautiful. (Except that my sister and her husband are at Lambeau today -- I would like to see her happy. But, is it worth the cost?)

17. remember
My Dad lived in Chicago in the early-to-mid-80's, just before they won it all. So I was fan then for the 3 seasons leading up to and including the Super Bowl. They are my NFC team. The AFC Chargers are my overall favorite, being my birthplace (although I was never a big Padres fan, but that is another story - although I like them okay, and you know I love the Cubbies, which I am not going to discuss).

Anyway, I am no fairweather newbie, as you know - and YES, my pick was strictly for gambling, although my last 2 weeks of picks has sucked. I am hoping for the gold otday!

18. Favre is unbelievable....
you may be wrong on them -- but I sure hope not! (My sister's seats are in one of the endzones so see may have had a great view of that TD pass. Packers, yuck.) Oh well, the Giants have come back. A thrill a minute in Lambeau.

22. Cactus League
My 2 favorites, the Mariners and Cubs, play Cactus League, and I will be going to at least one game each.

No Marie Callendar's this time though, and I am hoping you can at least make it to a Cubs game with me.
