My Son the Senator
Some DUers will remember a 12 year old Sonofsoleft from a 2002 Philly get together where he donned a mask of * and pretended to choke on a pretzel.

Well, I guess with such auspicious political beginnings, I should not have been surprised when told me on Friday that he ran for his school senate, was not only elected but received the most votes in his class. But I was surprised because I didn't know he was running and was so excited and proud to hear the news. Apparently his stump speech dealt with the school dress code and getting an elevator to run earlier in the day so kids won't be late to class.

My Son the Senator, almost sounds as good as my son the doctor.

2. Congrats!
I know what you mean about being proud. My 10 year old son ran for VP of his class this semester. He lost by 1 vote but is anxious for the re-election next semester.

On a cute side note, while making posters and buttons, he looked up at me and asked "Mom do you think John Kerry's mom helped him with his fifth grade election too?" Awww....heartwarmer! He's in the Kids for Kerry group too. I've always thought this kid is either going to be a famous actor or president someday. That's his personality...all charm. He's involved in both at this time though...school plays and musicals and student government. Can't tell I'm proud of him can ya?

5. And here's
My Son the Senator (a few years older than yours), sitting at his desk in Washington....

.ok, he's really sitting at Senator Feingold's desk, when he was interning for Russ in D.C., but a mom can dream, can't she? :)

I wonder how many young politicians we're creating out there. You have to think there are tons of kids hearing about politics in families who have never been so focused on an election in the past. I just hope they all grow up to be great Democrats! :bounce:
