I need some recommendations for a new electric shaver
Currently using a Norelco 5811 XL, which is about 5 years old...I'm trying to decide whether to stay with Norelco, which has always been reliable (but the shaves aren't as close as i'd like)

I know there probably a ot of advances which have been made over the last 5 years; are there any other brands that people are satisfied with? or should i just stick with my current brand??

1. Braun
I've gotten some really nice shaves with my Braun razor! Fine German engineering, you know.

6. Braun user here, too.
It's got the double-foil technology, where the first one snips the long hairs, and the second one grinds the rest right off. I was a longtime Norelco user before I got this one a few months ago, and it's made a convert out of me.

Or you could just rub Nair on your face once in a while. As long as you don't mind the occassional scabbing.

2. Norelco Quadra
I don't see how anything could shave any closer than that one.

3. Second the Norelco Quadra.
Just replaced my much older Norelco with it.... much, much better, and only $90 at Costco.

4. Shaving soap, a brush, and a Bic blade
I know, it sounds weird. I started out electric but didn't like the irritation, then switched to blades and gel shaving cream. I swear shaving soap's better than either, and costs a hell of a lot less, and better for the environment, too.

5. i used a blade all through HS
and part of college.. i'm just more satisfied with electric..

ironically, my dad is the opposite...he used an electric for the first 10-11 years of my life, and has gone back to using a blade for the last 15
