Help - I need some good work out songs to download
I like the eliptical, but I've gotta have some music that keeps the legs moving. Appreciate any help you can give.

1. Citizen Cope, The Killers, Scissor Sisters...
Any good tunes with a rockin' beat!

4. iTunes, I don't think so - I download tunes from RealPlayer onto
an MP3 player - which is quite a stretch from someone who remembers dot matrix!

7. I like being able to download the debates for free!
Maybe that is a feature of RealPlayer, I don't know... But iTunes has the debates!

5. I like the harder Foo Fighters songs. Also the harder Collective Soul
Soundgarden. Maybe I'm stuck in the mid-90's with what I find uplifting and movivating.

6. love. love, love your graphic
That's okay - I'm stuck in the late 70s early 80s. I'm counting on you all to help me out here! BTW - I will test out all of these suggestions - I'm always open to new music, I just don't know where to start. I find the radio perpetually annoying with announcers shouting at me, so I don't listen that much. As a result, I get stuck listening to the same old music. Since I got the MP3 player, I thought I would try to expand my horizons a bit!

11. walking? Who said anything about walking? I hang onto that thing
for dear life while I'm spinning. I'm the weirdo who tries to dance while pedaling - my neck gets sore from doing that punk head bob thingy and people can see my lips moving from singing along and the sweat is flying everywhere! That's what kind of music I need. Thanks for the suggestion, though. Any others :7

16. Judging from your username
I guess I don't have to bother making any Clash recommendations.

How 'bout "War" by DOA, then? I seem to recall they performed that song at a recent protest in Vancouver...

(BTW, walking's a workout, too! :))

15. Oh please - I listen to that on From Here to Eternity but I get
all excited when Joe starts saying, "make me feel like I'm a man..." Then, I fall off the machine and make a complete spectacle of myself... :7

Capitol Radio is another that gets the heart racing!

17. Try "War Ensemble" from Slayer.
Many NFL and NHL players use Slayer to psyche up before games. You can't beat Metal for motivating work out music.

19. Workout songs...
Well.. personally speaking, when I workout, I like to listen to music that is guitar driven. So, currently, my weight lifting tape consists of;

Guns 'N' Roses (Sweet Child 'O Mine, Welcome To The Jungle, Civil War, Paradise City)

Stevie Ray Vaughn (Little Wing, Texas Flood, Pride and Joy)

Aerosmith (Janie's Got A Gun)

Sublime (The Wrong Way)

Candlebox (Far Behind, Don't You)

Live (Selling the Drama, I Alone, Lightning Crashes)

U2 (Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Years Day, I Will Follow, Desert Sky)

I think that's all I have on the current work out disc. I try to make a new one every month of so. Good luck!

23. Depending on tastes:
Most techno music is very good for workouts

Crystal Method "Busy Child" etc.
Prodigy "Fat of the Land" album
Fat Boy Slim "You've Come a Long Way, Baby" album and others

James Brown "Night Train" and many others

For whatever reason I find a lot of 70's music is good for this purpose:

Boz Skaggs: "Dirty Lowdown" "Lido Shuffle"

George Clinton: "Atomic Dog"

Lots of rap tunes are good too. But again it's a matter of taste...

26. I like Fat Boy Slim. I've got one CD. I like the old school rap,
but have been out of the loop on the newer stuff. I think I'm fairly open to suggestions. However, as a hint - this is not my family's portrait:

Where am I going and why am I in this handbasket? :7

27. Old Skool Rap: stuff like
Grandmaster Flash "White Lines". I listen to this while working out. I thought it amusing that Shaun in "Shaun of the Dead" and his friend were singing this on their way home from the pub, even though his character was really too young (29) to know this music.

Also if you are not offended by it, most stuff by 2 Live Crew is very good for working out. It's about the least PC music I could possibly imagine though.

31. did you know that in the late 1970s, the Clash actually
hired Grand Master Flash for their opening act? Of course, no one had heard of him (black people had barely heard of him, let alone a bunch of white punks) and he got booed off the stage. Nice gesture, fell flat.

GMF is a great idea and, no, I'm not offended by raacy lyrics as long as they don't go waaaaaaaaaay overboard. Just ask Mr. Scorpio.

I'm singing and sweating and bobbing my head. Does that sound like an old man to you??? I'm just trying to upgrade myself a bit. I got stuck in the 1990s and am trying to find my way out! :P I have to look good for when you see me in your bar!
