2. I'm betting most schools frown on that sort of thing
I know the school I work at does.

5. Very frowned upon
because of the unequal power relationship. When I was in graduate school, one of the women two classes ahead of me dated a professor in our department, her advisor. When she decided to call it quits, he bad-mouthed her to the other professors and told them that she wasn't up to completing the degree. She was asked to leave. (This was in the days before sexual harassment was much in the public consciousness.)

There are unscrupulous professors who specialize in seducing a succession of young and vulnerable students, a new one each semester. The other professors tend to think of them as sleazes. The young and vulnerable students think they're being loved by a glamorous and exciting older person--until the next semester, when the professor no longer seems to know who they are and has another naive young person enthralled.

Another potential problem is favoritism. If you're dating your professor and the other students know it, they will suspect that you are trying to sleep your way to a better grade.

It's best to wait at least until you have finished taking classes from that professor or even better, graduated. If the attraction is more than a crush, you'll be able to wait.

6. It's as much of a no-no
as workers dating their bosses.

This is not to say that the practice isn't as common as dirt.
