Winning with class-the face of the Boston victory

An unidentified Boston Red Sox fan is covered in blood after being injured outside Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts October 20, 2004. Riots erupted after the Red Sox defeated the New York Yankees in Game seven of the ALCS to secure a spot in the World Series (news - web sites). Photo by Jessica Rinaldi/Reuters

Local television footage showed most fans milling peacefully around the ballpark after Boston's 10-3 victory over the Yankees in New York. But a few dozen people turned violent, jumping on cars, lighting fires, fighting and vandalizing signs and storefronts before police in riot gear moved in to disperse them.

Police said they made about half a dozen arrests and about the same number of people were injured in the fracas.

1. Hey, Underpants, don't rock the boat!
In this forum, the Yankee fans are the bad guys. The Sox fans are the noble, the oppressed, the only ones capable of an inclusive and theologically consistent worldview.

BTW, Soxies, nothing resembling a riot ever took place outside Yankee Stadium during all our victories from 1996-2003. Of course, I'll understand it if your response is that we hold our riots INSIDE the Stadium.

It was quiet there last night, however...

last year. He got run over.

There are over 1,000,000 college students in the Boston area so there's a lot of rampant testosterone and immaturity.

There are jerks in every crowd...

9. It's only fair, sniffa
We've been overdosing on the rings, The Curse, Bucky, Boone, and blah, blah, blah. All the while, the teams, dating back to the DiMaggio-Williams era, were fairly evenly matched. Last year, it was Grady Little who lost the game, not the team. So it was only a matter of time before the Sox got their own story line. I have to admire that they came up with something that hasn't been done before; it's only fitting, given the historical improbablilities that have marked this whole story.

The Sox comeback adds depth and meaning to the greatest rivalry in sports. Our mutual torment will continue next year. But, first, you need to seal the deal and win the Series.

12. 85,000 people in the streets, 6 arrests. There are always a couple.
Just like our screwed up media...every chance they get they hold up the exception and call it the rule. pathetic. I'll continue to enjoy the moment.
