I want a direct MP3/AUX line in on my Honda stereo
Can anyone help me out? I have a 2001 Honda Insight with a stock cassette AM/FM stereo with a CD changer (Honda) connected. I believe the Acura has the same stereo setup as the Insight.

I'm willing to do almost anything that will get a direct line in - of course, least expense, least trouble is best, but whatever.

I know there is an adapter that'll take the CD changer input and allow you to pipe in your own L/R signal, but I want to keep the CD changer hooked up and running. I know I can use one of those FM Modulator deals that hook directly to the antenna in, but I'm afraid they won't work as well as a direct line in. I have been using one of the little FM transmitters, and it works pretty well, but I don't think it's transmitting the entire range, so when really bass parts come on in the song, it just distorts to hell.

I'd also be willing to change stereos, as long as the new one is an easy install and will work with my CD changer.

Any tips would be appreciated.

2. I installed an aftermarket stereo in my car, it had a mini jack AUX in
on the front panel. You might be able to find one that would work with your existing changer, I'd try Crutchfield.

4. There a thing that looks like a cassette with a cable attached.
IOW, it takes whatever you plug into the cable and transfers it to the playback head of the cassette player.

Kinda cheesy, but they work.

5. Yeah, but my cassette deck is hosed
There's something wrong electronically, so if you put a tape in there it freaks out sometimes. Once it even drained the battery by freaking out. I prefer not to use it.

Good idea, though.

6. Perhaps that doesn't matter.....
Since the device only looks like a cassette and is not actually a cassette and has no need for the transport part of the deck.

Maybe your deck won't freak out from using it.

7. I've actually tried one quite a while ago
and the deck thinks it's playing a tape and still screws up. Grrrrrrr...

I used one of those on my old truck for years and years. It's, as you say, kinda cheesey, but a great little device!
