I want to hear from people who have actually, with the exception of * being re-elected, had a good year. Found the love of your life? started a new job? won lotto? etc etc etc

Personally, this year has sucked and it just keeps getting worse. I will be only too happy to see it end.

7. Except for the primaries and the general...a good year.
No new love, same job, no lotto winnings, but my son now lives with me so I see him every day instead of two days a week and everybody's healthy. Overall, pretty damn good.

8. Not me, I have Firestones and Continentals...
No Goodyears...
I'm healthy, my familiy's healthy, we're all working (or enjoying retirememnt)
On the down side, the workers are having to do more with the same, and that's difficult.

11. I have Contis and BFGoodrich.
Bridgestone and Firestone are on my shit list because of how the company handled the Bronco rollover issue a few years back (Ford is, too).

12. My Ford's on Firestones, and I haven't decided what...
...to put on the Bridgestone yet. (I have a Bridgestone bicycle)

Don't forget how Ford handled the Pinto problem, too!

9. I hope I've had a good year...time will tell
I quit a job I'd held for almost 27 years to go to a start up company. So far it feels like a good move.

10. ..
I went on a diet and lost a ton of weight. So I've been able to wear cute clothes again which is nice. Other than that, it's been a really shitty year.

13. Me!!!
Got a raise, impressed two vice-presidents, paid off some BIG bills. Nephew had a baby girl last week. Company is growing by leaps and bounds. Youngest daughter had straight A's for the third straight semester in high school. Got a new cat. Lost 20 pounds.

What more could a man ask for??

MERRY CHRISTMAS

15. Been a pretty good year for me
Politics aside, this was generally a good year. Getting to see Kevin Spacey in Atlantic city two weeks ago certainly ended the year on a high note. :bounce: :loveya:

16. Personally life has been good for me
Bought a larger house, a fixer upper in Oct. '03, and the remodeling and repair has gone on schedule. It is a godsend, being on twenty acres in the country, beautiful view, no noise, very peaceful. My wife and I are more in love with each other than ever. Our jobs are going well, with the possiblity for promotion for her, and a modest pay raise for me(the first in a few years). Have a new cat and a new dog in the house, and our health is doing well. Friends and family are all doing OK, excepting the usual ups and downs everyone has. All in all, it has been a good year.

It is only when I turn to the wider world that I start to weep. So many people are in misery, and it seems no matter what I do, how much I give, it cannot and does not make a substantial difference. But I keep persevering, for I've been through this before with the Vietnam war, and realize that it is going to take years to sway public opinion to the point where real change can be made.

18. Horrible year.
Sorry, you said you wanted to hear from people who had a good year, but you broke your own rule, so I had to cheat.

I got my heart broken. Broken in a way it's never been broken before. I wake up every single morning crying. I am trying to have hope, but it's so hard.

20. Sorry Janesez, but look on the bright side
You get to spend winter in Philadelphia

(sorry, but after the last two days of 9 degree temps, couldn't resist)

I know everyone has already probably told you this, but time will eventually help you heal.

Hope you're able to take comfort from friends, family, pets, or whatever else helps you get through each day.

21. I love this town, even in the winter. :)
Living here is one of the few bright spots in my life. There's something about making it through winters in the Northeast that makes you a better person.

I am trying. I can't believe how much this hurts. I've clearly never been in love before, if this is what it feels like when it's over. Worst thing EVER.

19. Got to go to Venice Italy for a week (company paid)
to interview people at a highly specialized convention being held there.
In June, when everything smelled like jasmine.
And I'd never been to Europe before.
And it worked out that I had tons of free time to roam around and get lost (they called my cell phone whenever they had recruited an interview for me, otherwise I was free)

As a world traveler told me before I left, "Venice is the one place in the world that will actually exceed any expectation you might possibly have of it". I've heard of people who were there for a day that hated it, but if you have enough time, the place is magic.

Also, got to take my SO to Arizona and tour with him from Tombstone up to the Grand Canyon (Tucson, Phoenix, Jerome, Sedona, Flagstaff, and stayed right at the Canyon). I've been there before, but he'd never been anywhere like it.

Thanks for the thread happyasaclam - I've been depressed about the Chimp and my job, but this reminded me to be thankful for what went right.
