RSVP's - It's amazing what a little death threat will accomplish!
Edited on Wed Jul-16-03 09:27 AM by bunnyj
A couple of days ago I posted here about my aggravation and frustration that almost no one was responding to the invite to my daughter's birthday party this Friday. I asked DUers to advise, and they very helpfully responded.

For once, I actually followed advice, and called the parents of these kids. Turns out we now have nine out of twelve kids coming so far, with two left who haven't got back to me yet. One kid cannot make it because he is in Florida. I guess that's a reasonable excuse!:)

Anyway, I was very polite in my calls, very understanding of how busy everyone is, sympathized with people, and got great responses! I guess you really do catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Thanks for the good advice!

edited to correct brain fart.

3. Miss Manners would be proud
I very infrequently read her column, but more often than not, it is about someone lamenting the fact that nobody RSVPs anymore.

4. I HATE it when people don't RSVP
but, then again, I think I only do when the answer is positive. Isn't that what is usually expected? Or, is it the opposite? Egads, I've forgotten my common courtesy!

Hm, death threats in the invites... not a bad idea! (I've got a 4-y-old bday party coming up in a month).
