Durian anybody?
Ugh...I have durian coming out of my ears. Makes for a kick-ass smoothie, SMOOOOOOTH being the operative word.

If you haven't had this wonderful fruit from SE Asia, you should really try it.

It has an interesting smell, one that some find offensive, but I found rather floral and fresh. Some have said that the experience is like "eating custard in a public lavatory."

The meat of the fruit is dense, and buttery in texture. It practically melts in your mouth with the flavors of lotus flowers, citrus, bananas, and tapioca. All those flavors combine in a rich, custard-like meat that is a rich yellow in color. (this sounds like a wine review)

Also had a Red Papaya, which I found lacking after the rich sweetness of the durian.

Anyways, I highly recommend this WONDERFUL fruit. Just watch out for the bazillions of spikes on the hull.

2. I certainly know about it
But I've never tried it. The stories about the smell have been enough to keep me away. I'm very sensitive to strong smells.

4. The smell was not bad at all...
In fact, it was kind of refreshing.

3. I haven't tried durian yet, but would like to.
I have heard about the smell, and saw a TV show a couple of years ago where a guy had to open the tough, spiky shell of the durian with a machete!

I have no idea where I would find one where I live - perhaps in an Oriental grocery store?

5. I went to the local asian market where they had that
along with a myriad of other, fresh and exotic fruits and vegetables.

I went crazy and bought 50 bucks worth of veggies, fruits, and mushrooms.
