I'm going to f***ing puke!

Why, you ask? Two words:

GOVERNOR SCHWARZENEGGER!

And considering that I'm 3,000 miles away from California, I can well imagine how you Californians must feel!

9. I really think the
media had alot to do with it, it was all arnie, all the time. Everytime it was arnie it was fluff, everytime it was Davis or Bustamante it was negative. The media is nothing but repuke celebity whores and a HUGE amount of the blame is theirs!

10. It doesn't matter if you can spell 'morans' or not, you still win...
and that's what sucks.

See, nobody takes politics serious anymore. That's why a semi-literate military deserter (Ahnold deserted his post in the German military to compete in bodybuilding competitions) can be selected to another important post in the US--because nobody seems to care. It's not about issues, or record, or even personality--it's all about marketing.

Shame on the Fifth Estate. They may not have encouraged this result (debate on that if you must), but they certainly didn't do anything to enlighten the citizenry.

That's it, Mrs. Amok are one step closer to our New Zealand defection.

12. What a fucking disgrace
Woke up, got myself to work, had a coffee. Everything seemed fine. Got on the internet, checked the newspapers online. "The Governator" read one headline, and I realised today would be a shite 8,5 hours at work.

Heads up, my friends across the pond. You have my deepest sympathy, but you need to carry on fighting these w@nkers. I'll spare you all a thought today, these were terrible news.

14. It proves people value style over substance
Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 03:33 AM by ikojo
Bush got by with an aw shucks I'm just a regular guy type campaign even though everyone knew he was born into a family of power and privilege. Gore couldn't say the sky was blue without being labled a liar.

The same with Schwarzenegger...he didn't have to have any substance after all he is a MOVIE STAR!!! Ooooh! Aaaaaah! He wont be running things anyway. California will be governed from the offices of Karl Rove, it is he who will be giving the marching orders.

Is it really so hard to believe that a Repuke won? After all Cali elected Ronald Reagan and Pete Wilson. I think the only reason Gray Davis won last year is because the candidate the pugs put up was horrible.

What people need to pay attention to now is the introduction of amendments to allow foreign born citizens to run for president. There were those championing that on DU a couple of weeks ago. Wonder if it sounds so good now? Remember Ronnie went from govenor of CA to the presidency. Schwarzenegger has his eye on the prize.

I'll bet corporate California is happy today.

15. I'm a Californian...
I've been here for over 40 years. My husband's ancestors came to California before the gold rush and occupy plots in pioneer cemetaries. I love this state, and it breaks my heart and soul to see this happen. Less than a year ago the people of California elected Gray Davis to a second term. Their votes have now been stolen.

This recall crap was a Rove/Enron/corporate media co-production starring Arnold - who will be as much of a front-man for the cabal as the chimp. Arnold doesn't know anything about being the chief executive of the most populous state in the country - one both demographically and economically diverse. I'd be willing to bet big money that Arnold had never before set foot in Fresno or Bakersfield before this campaign. His knowledge of "Kali-for-nuyh" is most likely limited to the affluent west side suburbs where he lives in gate-guarded splendor.

He's about to get a rude shock in Sacramento where the Democratic legislature will not exactly be rolling out the welcome mat and will be anxious to determine who is pulling the strings behind the scenes.

For now I feel disappointed that so many people in this state could be so easily fooled by a Nazi-sympathizing assaulter of women who speaks broken English. (Why is it that repukes can't find candidates who don't mangle the language?) I have a feeling, though, that the parade of the groped is just getting started, and that another recall won't be far behind.

16. Based upon how the national Dems reacted to shrub
I think the Dems in Sacramento WILL roll out the red carpet for Ahnold. They will speak the new age speak of California and say it's a time for healing and coming together, let's give the man a chance..blah...blah..blah. This is where Rove and Co will go for the kill.

I don't think the Democrats have the unity of purpose to mount a recall of Schwarzenegger. They will think he deserves the chance Davis never got. After all they are as enthralled by celebrity as are the voters in California.

No, I suspect Ahnold will be treated quite well by the Dems and the media.

17. I'll split the difference...
I think California is in a big enough fiscal mess to give Ahnold a chance to fix the problem. A lot of the Dems. you point to as "resistence" will be up for elections themselves. That said, If ahnold doesn't fix things FAST, he can forget about the people's precious "trust." And if he succeeds, 2004 is not going to bea happy tme at DU as Bush cakewalks to into an easy second term.

18. I wonder what will happen if he's already in office...
You should have seen my face while watching Arnold's victory unfold... :puke:

I mean, what good will he do? (Though I'm an outsider and too young to understand political hullaballoo.. the hell with that!) He'll just read his speeches from a Hollywood script, let whoever there run the show, anyways it's funded by the big guys. "Lemme just flex my muscles while I grope," he'd probably say in the Governor's Mansion. (oops!!-bad me!) I have an ill feeling he's geared toward the Oval Office very soon.

And who in the right mind would vote this man??? It's one big pile of Hollywood hype they're heaping at! (Groan.)
