Red Army Choir
I downloaded a bunch of these Soviet military songs. now, I hate Soviets and their totalitarian shit, but this is good music! So bombastic and militaristic!

Check out "Farewell to Slavinkia"

so kickass

1. I have a Commie-related guilty pleasure too
Socialist housing. Now, I've seen plenty of social housing in both Eastern and Western Europe. I've seen it from the ground, in the air, and I've lived in it too, so I know that as functional architecture it sucks, but sometimes it can have a weird austere grandeur to it. I know I shouldn't get visual pleasure from these clifflike precast blocks set in wide fields or arranged in mesmerizing repeats, but I do.

2. yea, they have a cool sound
there's some of their stuff on The Hunt for Red October soundtrack and I've got some others, it's really cool stuff! I really like 'The Sacred War' and the Volga boat song, as stereotypical as that is.

3. Other good ones:
"There March the Soliders"
"We Are the Red Cavalry"

hows that for a stereotypical soviet nationalist totalitarian propaganda?

5. Red Army Chorus fans should see the film Total Balalaika Show
which is about a joint outdoor concert between the Red Army Chorus and a crazy Finnish band called the Leningrad Cowboys.

You haven't lived until you've heard the Red Army Chorus sing "Delilah" and "Sweet Home Alabama." :-)
