any Jerry Jeff Walker fans??
I got ticks to see him on Monday in Phoenix. I saw him before in Greensboro a few years back and really enjoyed the show.

Any other fans?

1. GET OUT!!!! JJW is God.
Pretty close to it.

Where can I find out about his tour sched?

I don't think hes headed to LA. He should come out here and sing LA Freeway to us sometime.

I've been wondering what he's been up to. Glad to hear he's touring.

7. Ohhhhhhoohhhhhhhhh I LOVE Sangria wine!!
Wasnt it Jerry Jeff and Jimmy (buffett) who wrote some tunes in the 5th precinct jail in Austin together? I always heard that was how it went. Never knew for sure.

Those guys are two peas in a pod.

One of his best, from the album, (I think) " A Man Must Carry On"

13. Went to his Viva Luckenbach concert
In Luckenbach in 1993. The town was totally unimproved back then. It was fabulous. Sat in the windowsills of the ancient crowded dancehall tossing back Shiners and singing along with great gusto. Saw him quite regularly back when. There's nothing like seeing him in an old Texan dancehall like Luckenbach or Gruene Hall, though. And I always wanted to go on one of his winter vacations in Belize.

15. Viva Jerry Jeff!
JJW is an icon here in Central Texas. His influence can still be felt in honky-tonks, hillbilly bars, and hippie hangouts all over the area. One of the few people, along with Willie and Waylon and Johnny, who can have freaks, punks, and rednecks all singing in unison with his stuff.

16. Saw him perform several times in the late '60s and early '70s...
... but lost track of him in recent times.

Fringe benefit: Because of Jerry Jeff, I also discovered David Bromberg's phenomenal guitar playing ability.

My fave JJ Walker moment: I'm sitting at a table in our little student center lounge, c. 1971; Walker is playing a loooooooong impromptu set, without amplification, taking sips of red wine in between songs, getting better with each sip. He finishes set with the song about his dad, "My Old Man." The room is so quiet, people are listening to those poignant lyrics so intently, everyone is spellbound. It's one of those moments you live for if you love music.
