In Memoriam ~ Carol Shields
Just heard that she died aged 68 from complications due to breast cancer.

this was truly a great author...if you havent read "the stone diaries" do it now....this book was a recomendation to me from my g/f when we first got together and wow i was blown away by it...it is simply an amazing book

she won so many awards including a pulitzer (though for the above book she was robbed when she didnt win the booker prize...but against a pulitzer who cares eh ?)


we have lost a great talent with her passing

worries me though cos i had to leave my cat behind when i moved countries.....(g/f has allergies and a trans-atlantic trip prob wouldnt have done her any good)

on edit ~ wasnt she an 'adopted' canadian ? im sure here bio says she was american born but spent most of her life in this great country Canada?
