They were an amazing band for a while they are just now sliding into old rock star mode (which is to be expected.) Will they ever make an album as good as War? Fuck no. But are they better than 90% of the other shit you hear on VH1? Fuck yes.

Once for work I had to listen to Bono preach for over an hour. Even though I grew-up Catholic, listening to Bono was just too damn much. Several of my coworkers ended-up leaving early and got fired. Religion and music don't go together, just like religion and polictics don't.

It's funny that you should say that. I'm going to say that I think I agree with your intent, to some degree. Most of what is labeled "Christian Rock" (I don't include U2, but whatever) is absolutely horrendous.

Ok, so now I am going to address the "religion and music don't go together" statement. This is where I disagree wholeheartedly. There's a strong tie between worship and music. Psalm 95 is one of my faves: 1 O come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! 2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

Some of the most beautiful music ever written was religious music. Think Handel's Messiah.
