Touting his "Thank you sir, may I have another?" strategy for dealing with the Executive branch.

1. "Zell Miller without the crack"
He's today's democrat, with yesterday's strategies. Exemplifies the problems with the party - doesn't recognize that compromise is not an option when you're dealing with a corrupt sociopath...

4. I loved the part where...
he said a Senator should "support the President when possible, oppose him when necessary" (or something like that; I'm paraphrasing).

Maybe it's just my sheltered upbringing in a country without an executive branch of government talking, but shouldn't a good Senator's job be to support the people of his state, regardless of what the President thinks?

5. Give the guy a break
He's an endangered species: a Nebraska Democrat holding major office. He's going to be on our side with Social Security, because it's not the will of the American people, and, ultimately, he's got to get re-elected in 2006.

Let's not villify him because the people of his state voted for Bush overwhelmingly.

6. Did you see him on Jon Stewart's show?
He sure didn't sound like he was on the Democrats' side about Social Security. He sounded like he was siding with Bush's "reforms."

Also, he seemed to roll over about everything, shrugging that it was okay with him that George Bush was pushing for this or that.

7. Yeah, I watched
And I saw nothing that gave an indication one way or the other. Yes, it's unfortunate that he feels the need to be so wishy-washy on the subject, but he did give indications that he was willing to stand up to Bush on this one. Nelson's not going to be the weak link. He's not the one you should worry about.

8. Well good.
I'm glad we can count on him, and I apologize if I was wrong about his conviction in standing up to George Bush.

9. Nelson in WSJ
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=164x444

Basically stated that he's waiting for the President to present a substantive plan before he makes a decision, and that the President has not really answered the questions about how he's going to pay for it.

I really don't think Nelson's going to vote for something that so drastically affects the deficit.

10. No offence, but you've got the wierdest user name I've seen yet.
How does one pronounce it? Again, please don't take offence. People can be so touchy in GD, but this is the lounge.

13. Unfortunately, I am stuck here in Nebraska for the time being
And Nelson wastes no opportunity to bend over like a two-dollar crack whore whenever Bush comes calling. Who gives a shit if someone calls himself a Democrat if he never votes with his party.
