1. msconfig for PC
Go to start, click on either run or find (depending on your Windows version), type in msconfig and click the startup tab and disable the program.

3. That's because its the wrong place
You want to open regedit and goto

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

and remove the "Yahoo! Pager" key

6. In the yahoo messenger window, click the 'messenger' tab,
then click 'preferences', click the 'general' tab, then uncheck the box under 'when I start up my computer'. Worked for me.

9. If it works, who cares if it's technical or not? I didn't know that only
'professionals' could give advice here.

12. Usually you can do it within the software itself...
as someone has already mentioned.

For those of you who use Yahoo, MSN and AOL IM packages (like me), Trillian will combine them all for you in one interface. Pretty convenient and I'm not expert enough, yet, to know if it retains all the uses of each separate package.
