I got mine for Christmas, and I'm addicted to it. I go nowhere without it.

Oh, and how was Howard Dean dinner thingy, Melody?

22. He signed...
my boob...actually it was right above my left tit on my T-shirt that read, "W(universal NO sign) wrong for Indiana, Wrong for America". He did his classic 'ohhhhh' and my husband laughed and said, "Hey, it's one of the perks of your job!" He was awesome in Dayton last Sunday evening!:bounce:

3. The greatest invention in the history of mankind!!
O.K. so maybe not. But it is great. I have not pulled out a cd in over a year, since I loaded all of mine onto a large hard drive and rotated them in and out of my 40gb ipod. It's a totally gratuitous accessory but for a rabid music fan it is essential.

I thought about getting a 60 gb to fit more of my music on (I have 97gbs of music on my computer), but then I had my current one accidentally erased and had to re-load it. I actually put less music on there at a time now so that I can more effectively listen through it. When I had 10,000 songs on there a lot of stuff was lost in the shuffle (no pun intended).

8. Yep...TOO MUCH music in one place
If there is any downside, that is it. Even with just a couple of thousand songs on mine, it can be tough to find what you're looking for. But that is a pretty minor complaint! (And the iTrip FM transmitter is a must-have for the car, too!)

11. I wish I didn't have to use the Itrip....
...It works o.k. but not as good to my ears as the tape adapter in my wife's car. I prefer the cleaner, static free sound. But even with that I love it.

I'm also a fan of Itunes for my computer. Just being able to organize 21,000 songs like that and have a massive jukebox is an incredible thing for a music junkie.

13. The tape adapter sound better, usually.
If you can't find a good, clear station. Also, the sucky thing about iTrip is that it loads a "song" into your iPod representing each click stop on the radio tuner. It totally hoses the concept of "shuffle play," because it keeps selecting the five second tuning spots as "songs." So I got rid of all of them except three. I just prefer it to the tape adapter because there aren't any wires.

15. Thanks for the warning
I was going to buy an iTrip, but I guess I'll just save my money and stick with the cassette adaptor.

19. If you have a cassette player in your car, I would use that...
...The itrip is great if you have a cd player in the car and don't have any other choice. But if I had a choice I would be using the cassette adapter. Much clearer signal, no programming, etc.

I had an IRiver...whatta joke.

My first mp3 player was a Rio500, before the iPod days. It used flash cards for memory, and only played for a couple of hours, but it was better than the iRiver -- we returned ours, it was basically worthless. But I still have the Rio, and it still works.

I have the 20 gb iPod, and it's only half full, and that's still with seven day worth of no-repeat music. I take it snowboarding with me, and the cold doesn't bother it, nor did the black-diamond wipeout where I fell right on my chest, on the iPod. It didn't skip a beat.

iPod wannabees try to justify how cool their also-rans are, but that is because they've never used an iPod for any length of time. There simply is no substitute. Take it from someone who has tried a few of them.

20. Ya Right
Oh snowboarder dude, your a riot! ha! Anyone who is familiar with iRiver's hard-drive based players know they are superior to iPods. Always have been. Compare the features.

12. Love it...
I have 30 audio books and 800 songs on my 60GB IPod Photo--still I've only used 7.5 GBs. I love to hook it up to my TV and listen to audio books while I clean house. Wonderful!

18. Same here
I bought one for my son for Christmas and was amazed to discover I could DL any of the hundred episodes of THIS AMERICAN LIFE, my favorite radio program on NPR, onto the mini. I'm going to buy another one for myself soon.

17. I have a Creative Jukebox Zen
Not the same product, I know, but it has also changed the way I listen to music.

To have roughly 60% of my music collection with me at any given time is liberating.

Us ipod users don't have to decide which 60% of our music we want any given day :)
