how often does your partner say "I love you" to you?
how often do you say it to your partner?

does it matter to you to hear it, or do you think that actions speak louder than words?

20. Since you asked me a question, I'm compelled to answer.

She knew how I felt without me having to say those three simple words, so the token of vocal expression was next to pointlessness.

Furthermore, she never said it to me, so double pointlessness.

Besides, she was not the kind of woman to get hung up on such things.

I need a beer now.

32. i didn't mean to bum you out
you know that. i was just curious. and trust me when i tell you that saying "those three simple words" is NEVER ever "pointless".

next time, step up and tell them how you feel, they deserve to know and you deserve to get it out and have it reciprocated.

Relationships suck anyway you approach them.

5. every morning and every night (on both sides)
I like to hear it, but obviously actions speak pretty loudly too. If my partner treated me like shit all day and at night finally said, "I love you"--BIG DEAL.

21. Makes me look twice anyway.
BTW, the answer to your question is "never". Oh, I break down now and then and say "I love you" to him, but I'm on my second husband (the first one died of lung cancer), and neither one has been free with those words. Both great men, mind you, generous and responsible, but not very supportive. That's okay I guess; they have a right to expect that they married an adult.

i'm confused at how being an adult means you don't need to hear "I love you" from your spouse.

I'm gonna find you a good, smart, Democratic woman who looks like Valerie Bertinelli.

And maybe even has loads of money, too! That'd be a bonus, right?

But yeah, rich would be nice.

If she could just get me a new job, that would be helpful. :-)

but we've talked about it and now I can see the things he does to show he loves me. I didn't recognize those before. And he now makes an effort to talk about it more.

We're both happy now :)

Extremely affectionate in this house, all three of us.

Around other people, we tone it down, but we're always lovin' on each other.

19. Oh God, wasn't it just a tearjerker?
I cried my ass off reading that.

Now I'm reading "Prodigal Summer" by Barbara Kingsolver and it's good (much better, in fact), but not as much of a tearjerker.

That was the one I meant to get, but all the library had was Prodigal Summer. Still it's good, and from what I understand, you pretty much can't go wrong with her.

Glad you liked the Hunt Sisters book.

30. Thank you. It's been five years. She'd been through chemo and...
several serious illnesses and operations. I took off from work each time to stay with her in the hospital and help nurse her through to recovery. As I became more and more despondent she decided she couldn't deal with my depression and left.
