U2: Lamest Band Name Ever?
Edited on Mon May-02-05 08:28 AM by StopTheMorans
Alpha-numeric band names are possibly the lamest monikers in existence, but U2 has taken lameness to a new level. Discuss.

on edit: THE EDGE WILL CUT YOU!

names for bands who made it" as well, although it would be even worse if they were "REM12" or some such shit...

19. "And the long arm of Athens came down and we had to change our name"
I think (THINK) it was Green on Red that told the story of how both they and REM were using that name. They were talking about it back stage and they agreed that whomever cut the first single could keep it "And the long arm of Athens came down and we had to change our name"

I think it was Green on Red (from Tuscon apparently) but I could be wrong.

Didn't have any girls in the band either. Just a very young Ronnie Wood on guitar.

They even made an appearance in an awful movie called "The Deadly Bees". If you're an MST3K fan, you have probably seen it.

It's extremely hard to search for albums or songs by "The Band." Even using quotes on google you find lots of non-related stuff because it's such a common phrase.

Bet they didn't think about that:)

perhaps if U2 had picked a real name and not taken the dork track to fame, we would live in a happier world.

And the singer could have picked a better name than Bono. Unless he forever wants to be next to 'boner' in my mental dictionary.

it was bit of an accident too. Brian Jones, the now dead guitarist and founder of the band was trying to book a show and couldn't think of a name. He saw a Muddy Waters record, which just happened to be "Rollin' Stone and their name was born.

56. Compared to what?
The band has been rocking for 20 years, has entered the R&R Hall of Fame, repeatedly wins Grammies, and has yet to grow stale.

Have you read the words to Vertigo? If you do, you'll understand what Bono means when he sings "your love is teaching me how to kneel. KNEEL!" Don't let the hyped up melody deceive you. They know how to write.

The Edge is smooth guitar, not rock, but pure skill.

So what-what... wanna fight me, huh?
