Pa. Eatery Offers New 15-Pound Burger

Monday, May 2, 2005

(05-02) 14:27 PDT Clearfield, Pa. (AP) --

The burger war is growing. Literally. Denny's Beer Barrel Pub, which lost its crown as the home of the world's biggest burger earlier this year, is now offering a new burger that weighs a whopping 15 pounds.

Dubbed the Beer Barrel Belly Buster, the burger comes with 10.5 pounds of ground beef, 25 slices of cheese, a head of lettuce, three tomatoes, two onions, a cup-and-a-half each of mayonnaise, relish, ketchup, mustard and banana peppers — and a bun.

It costs $30.

"It can feed a family of 10," said Denny Liegey Sr., the restaurant's owner.

1. I can just hear the fast-food corps and their paid whiners:
"Whaaaa! Why is everyone picking on us, saying we make people fat!"

7. My sibs and I are going there this summer.
We live within easy driving distance, so we are going. We figure that the four of us could split one of those big burgers, although even one-fourth of that sounds like a TON of food. But we're doing it - I'll post pictures when we do!

16. I just KNEW you'd post that pic Richardo!
Edited on Tue May-03-05 09:23 AM by Bunny
When I go there, I'm going to pose with that waitress, or someone equally cute. Then I'll post the pic!

On edit - looking at the picture of that massive burger, I think even that one is too big for the four of us. I can't imaging trying to tackle one that is 78% bigger! We may have to ask for a doggie bag -we won't even come close to finishing that.

8. "It can feed a family of 10."
Huh? Only if the family members in question all are part of World Federation Wrestling, or the Olympic Weight-Lifting Team!

I'm a big gal, and my appetite is pretty good, but anything over 6 oz on one burger is ridiculous, IMO. No 10.5 pound burger is ever going to be as properly cooked and tasty as a burger of the Right Size for One.

I'd love to see a family of 10 in which each and every member is used to eating a pound of burger at one sitting. It's all just too sick.

10. Whats with all the burger haters up in this thread? I kid...
I wonder if you can eat a whole buy yourself if you get it for free!?! kidding... again.

I wonder how well cooked can it be though? Seriously how do you cook that much meat all the way through without drying it out like dog food?

22. I am looking at the picture of the hamburger and what I want to know is
how tall is it?

How could one take a bite out of it?

I like a good burger but I will pass on this one.
