Burglar Found Asleep In Stolen Car - Arrested

JEFFERSON, La. -- A suspected burglar who hauled a 30-gallon trash can containing stolen cigarettes from a grocery store was caught after stopping to take a nap, police said.

The man was found fast asleep Monday inside a stolen car, the engine still running, with loot taken from a nearby Winn-Dixie store inside the vehicle, according to the Jefferson Parish sheriff.

The cigarettes were identified by a store manager, according to investigators.

Raymond Shaw, 41, of New Orleans, was booked with simple burglary and two counts of illegal possession of stolen property. He was jailed in lieu of a $30,000 bond.
