matcom and I are opening a used bookstore! We're SO EXCITED!

Really, I'm leaving my job as a meter maid, and Matthew (whom I lovingly refer to as maddy) and I are going to put our savings plus Maddy's Libyan Lockerbie bombing settlement after his parents were bombed out of the sky and buying a small bookstore. We're going to have a small apartment over it, and Remy will be our mascot.

I adore used bookstores. I hope I get to visit yours if I'm in Boston this summer.

I had a friend who opened a used bookstore, and the way she brought people in was by offering literacy tutoring with volunteers, and hosting all kinds of public events such as readings by local authors and talks and open poetry readings. Also, story times for kids.

There is also a fairly successful used bookstore in my area called the Book Alcove. Matcom might know this place since he's from Derwood MD, where I live. They have a side line of building and selling bookcases that brings in new book customers.
