okay, I have another ?
I noticed the other day, when I printed some pictures from my digital camera that they had a pinkish....purple tint to them.
so I thought that I might be out of one of the colors.

Okay so I just printed the picture in question, it came out the same weird color ( had forgotten about the ink thing)
Well I printed it again in greyscale and it still came out with that weird tint to it......any ideas what the deal is.

I have printed a lot of pictures before and never had this problem,
btw the photo in question is about 75 years old and it's black and white.

What the heck are you all doing up so late ?? or early??

Tia

4. why do you say that?
You think it's something wrong with the printer?
It appears to be printing everything else alright.

5. Try cleaning the print heads...
Edited on Sun Jul-20-03 09:53 AM by thermodynamic
What make/model is the printer? In the printer control panel properties, there should be an option to clean the heads.

If this printer is Lexmark or HP, chances are that the print head is integrated and replaced every time you swap ink cartridges.

Some printers have color cartridges only; no black cartridge - so it's still possible you'll get the tint regardless.

Lemme know, thanx!

Edit: I'm assuming the pics look normal on screen?

6. HP deskjet 712C
Edited on Sun Jul-20-03 10:36 AM by Libby2
It has 2 cartridges.

Okay Thermo, I took your advice and cleaned the cartridges, everything appears ok.

I just tried printing the photo again in color and in greyscale it still has the pinkish tint.

Yes the photo looks normal on the screen.

Maybe I do need a new printer,
I went through all the trouble shooting HP recommended.

So now I guess the next question is.......any recommendations for a decent printer that will print photo's.

One that won't cost me an arm and a leg??

Thanks again to all of you.....I don't know what I would do without this place.

on edit...okay I just printed something from my card program on the same type of paper I used for the photo....it came out crisp and sharp and looks great.
It appears to be just photos??
What the hell have I done?

7. Epson
Epson Stylus Photo 925 is a decent model and can be had for under $200. But that is just lip service, I've never used it. I personally own the Stylus Photo 2200, but that's probably out of your price range and you probably wouldn't need the archival ink quality either...

I'd stay away from HP, partly because I had bad experiences with the HP deskjet 1220C I had previously.

8. I remember you saying you had problems with HP
If you don't mind me asking what is the price range.
This is the first I have had any problems with this printer.

So Thermo do you think a new printer is what I need?

I'm getting so frustrated here !
Why does it print one thing perfectly and not another ??

lmao

9. Check with your camera maker's website..
lots of them now offer a special photo printer.. Some of them take the pics directly from the camera and print them...no need to store them in your computer first.. They even have built in viewers for sizing etc..

They are not that expensive either..:)
