Does anyone roll their own cigarettes?
I was thinking of buying the kit that gives you tobacco, tubes and machine for seven bucks or so.
I have rolled cigarettes before, but have they made changes? I rolled them years ago like joints, but i was wondering if things have changed.

1. I don't smoke, but I know several...
People have taken to rolling their own since the prices climbed so high.

3. Cheapest cigarettes I have found is about 22 bucks a carton
I know smoking isn't popular, but it is one addiction I am not ready to give up. If I can get 200 cigarettes for about 8 bucks, then I might give it a whirl.

7. Those I've seen with the machine...
Seem to do OK. My idea of difficultwas trying to determine whether the tobacco I used in the pipe needed to be loose or tight. Changing grades made that difficult.

I just quit.

That's cool. One day i will, but it is the only vice I have right now that I am not ready to give up. The prices are unbelievable though now.

2. I have cut my costs by 2/3.
I've used the expensive machine ($50 or $60 bucks) and find the $ 10 plastic machine to be the absolute scene. If you want to pm me, I'll give you my source for tobacco, tubes, etc.

4. Thanks
I am going to try the kit tomorrow, but I appreciate the offer. If I like it, then I will PM you to see where you get them.
How long does it take to roll a pack?

5. I've made my own for 2 years
If you want filters, buy the Premier Supermatic machine. I use their tubes or zig-zag, and Fred Stoker's #2.

6. You think it is worth the savings then?
Smokes are getting way to high, and I am not ready to quit smoking. I am thinking I can cut my costs in half, at least.

8. It costs around $8.50 a carton
to make your own. That includes shipping and everything. Buy by the pound, one pound makes 2 cartons. Shop around the web to find the best deal on tobacco. Tubes can be bought for $1.85 for 200 on most sites.

13. I'm pretty good at rolling my own from papers and pouch tobacco.
I usually do it to save money, a week of rolled ones then back to packs for another week. Most people over here don't use filters, but I do when I can get them. It's really common over here in the Netherlands, but I had no idea anyone still did back in the US.

14. I had a guy from France once come here
He was from a customer of my company and he came here to learn some things. We went down to a job that I engineered and we were outside. I went to grab a smoke from my pack and he pulled out a paper, grabbed tobacco and rolled one faster than I could get one from my pack..lol. It was something.
Not many people roll their own here in the states, but I am thinking of it because the cost has become too much to pay.

15. I learned to roll my own in France...
I went to univerisity for two years in Paris and learned to roll from other students. It is quite common to roll one's own cigarettes in Europe.

16. I can roll one within 30 seconds usually, but that's nothing compared to
some dutch friends, who usually need half that. What's an extra 15 seconds anyway? :D
