John Lennon
I was reading about John Lennon's murder today and can't stop thinking about how it was such a tragedy. Why must all visionaries be gunned down in their prime? Why? Why are people so fearful of change?

1. Lennon wasn't gunned down because of fear of change though
Chapman was and is a complete head-case.

8. The whole week, leading up to the vigils on Saturday, was difficult...
For me, that was the beginning of the end of my innocence.

This thread makes me miss him even more.

10. I can't begin to describe how important his music is to me
The first time I consciously realised I was reading on my own happened when I was reading the back of the Sgt. Pepper album, when I was almost 4 yrs old.

I've been called names and attacked for this, but I call John Lennon the "Second Messiah," my personal Jesus.

I am listening to him sing right now, which is what I usually listen to when I am posting on DU... when I'm not listening to Mike Malloy, Thom Hartmann et al.

GOD, I miss you John!!!

11. "The Ballad of John and Yoko" lyrics
"The way things are going
They're going to crucify me."

I always thought he foresaw his own death.
