The only good war...is a Pizza War!
There is a raging pizza war on 42nd Street. The new guys, Metro, rented opened about 6 months ago and are desperately trying to build up their business. They have a huge amount of space so they will need lots of traffic.

Metro has been out on the sidewalk giving out free samples of their pizza at lunch time. Meanwhile the guys 5 doors down have been on the block forever, don't have much space and probably have an old lease that is below market rates. Today, they were also on the sidewalk with samples.

So I head out to find some lunch, unaware of the raging battle that awaits me. I pass Metro first. They insist that I try their pizza... very well. Mmmmmmm. Not bad.

Then the other guys. I'm still chewing Metro's pizza when I get there. Nice lady says "ours is better!" I pick up a small slice but the cheese is so gooey and thick it wants to take another piece with it -- war is hell. I try to shake my piece loose. Nice lady says "oh take both." Their's was even better.

Went to Bryant Park for a while then I have to walk back through the war zone. Both sides have reloaded their arsenals and are demanding that all NYers try it. Another round from each!

1. Are they full-sized slices?
If so, there is such a thing as a free lunch!

The only other place you can do that is Costco. :P

2. Oh the Horror! The Horror!
What did those poor, innocent little mozzarella's ever do to you? Monster!

:P :7

Big Apple is sounding tastier every day.

Try and find a really good piece of pizza here in Northern California....

I'm born & rasised here and the people here don't know good pizza from the carboard box it comes in...Put some red sauce and cheese on the box and it taste exactly the same.

4. Oh yes, and it IS a crust problem
Sometimes the stuff sold in Calif as 'pizza' is very tasty food, it's just very bad as pizza.
Chicken pesto florentine exotic mushroom topping is no substitute for a proper crust.
