Poll question: The world's shortest ghost story: Scary, or not?
He opened the closet, checked under the bed, locked the window, and threw the deadbolt on the door. Then he got into bed and blew out the candle. A voice from the darkness said, "Now we're both locked in for the night,"

2. Sounds more like the intro to a romance novel than a ghost story to me

3. I think that's a great start of a short story!
Scary but would be great if it were continued :)

4. Where's the car chase? How do you expect this American to enjoy
it if it doesn't have a car chase? Or boobies? Or a soundtrack by Celine or MC DJ JazzyHammerIceScratcher?

Yours is too much like a story that you have to think about.

Are you French?

It should just be guns, car chase, shoot, boobies, car chase, sex, hit song sung, cliche final pun, credits.

5. Very good! Short and scary! Now if Stephen King wrote that....
it would be 1,257 pages long.

16. at least

11. I've got a shorter one.
The last man on earth sat alone in his room. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

13. I thought this was the world's shortest ghost story...
A man reading a book about ghosts on a train notices an elderly woman staring at him.

"Do you believe in ghosts?" he asked?

"Yes!" she said, and disappeared.

14. Ooooh, that is a good one!
My nephew told me one when he was six. All he could remember was the stinger, "He was alone in the dark and he wanted a light and suddenly a hand lit a match" Not bad for a kid not yet in double digits.

15. I enjoyed it
but I felt it was more funny, like a joke, than scary like a ghost story.

Otherwise, they're overwhelmed by tragedy. We are talking about dead people here. ;)
