Woman Killed By Falling Tree Limb
<snip>

MAYPORT, Fla. -- A Jacksonville woman trying to dodge a falling tree limb was killed by the branch.

Holly June Dodson was outside a mobile home near her own residence in Mayport visiting with friends when a 25-foot section of the tree broke loose at about 2 o'clock Monday afternoon.

Authorities said the 31-year-old Dodson looked up and saw the huge branch falling and ran about three steps before she was hit.

She was declared dead at the scene.

Weather service officials said winds in the area averaged between 10 to 15 miles an hour at the time the tree limb broke free.

1. A friend of our family was killed by a falling tree.
He was clearing a glade in memory of his father, and misjudged the fall of one of the trees. Fortunately, he was killed instantly. Nasty way to go, though.

The glade is now completed in memory of Richard and his father, and is apparently very beautiful, although I haen't been to see it yet.
