what's your car's name?
Edited on Tue May-17-05 11:22 PM by shugah
i realize there are 2 groups - those that call thier cars something, and those that don't. i fall into the "my car has a name" group. i've also owned enough cars to know that not all of them have names. (i like the ones that do best! ;-) )

current vehicles - 3 have names, 1 does not. the old le baron convertible is "beauty." the jag is "hello kitty." the F150 truck is "the redneck."

(compliments of DU, by the way. i have read numerous posts about how only *&^@#$%^&^*&*%$&* wingnuts drive this particular truck, and have informed my fam. our %^&*%^*#$%& F150 is red, and my 4 year old overheard me calling it a "goddamn, bloody, wingnut, redneck truck" so whenever he talks about it he says, "the redneck truck." cute! too cute, really! ;-) )

i'm not talking about the names you call your car. i've had those that i've called "bastard," "f**king piece of crap," "baby," etc ;-)

does your car have a name?

edit: clarity

22. And he didn't owe me a thing
I bought him for $450. Drove him for 4 years. He had self-changing oil. You know the type. Just add a litre every couple of weeks. Always started, even when not plugged in. Broke my heart to junk him. But, it was his time. (brakes were seized, hole in the rad, etc.)

25. Well, not so much poor me
I got $1000 bucks off a "previously owned" late model Cavalier for him. His body and most of the good parts were still good for recycling. So I got his successor for less than $2000. And "Frontenac" (the Cavalier) is still worth about $1500 after 4 years. So, go Winchester. Long live Frontenac!

"buck you" might be a fun name too! ;-)

explorers do seem to lack "personality" tho, don't they? i don't know what they were trying to be, but they are now the diminutive of the escalades and whatnot.

24. My silver Impala is Serge
My trusty ol' Ford Ranger was Pepe.
The Mustang I had in college was simply called the "SVO"

Every car needs a name. But it did make trading in Pepe hard on me, my ex-g/f, and Elsie, her Cavalier. It was a sad day for everyone.

35. she is "Bessie"
of course. I don't drive very much (prefering public transportation) so she actually belongs to my girlfriend...but Bessie and I have a very strong relationship. I think she likes the fact that I let her have plenty of rest in the garage. When she struggles to get going--some cold mornings--I call her "Old Bessie" but she knows I don't mean anything cruel by it.
