1. They were sloppy. Part of their charm, of course, but >
to me, groove and sloppiness co-exist uneasily at best.

6. I would hope so
I'm not a fan of theirs, but I can critique my favorites. I would hope that someone isn't so "star struck" that they would think an artist could do no wrong. That's almost bordering on obsession.

8. My biggest gripe with them
Isn't the music. Sure, some of it wasn't as good as the rest and we are all sick of Stairway to Heaven and the stuff in commercials.

But I despise the way that Jimmy Page and Robert Plant have repeatedly ignored the contributions of the finest musician in the band John Paul Jones.

To call their tour No Quarter after one of Jones' signature pieces was an insult.

Love Zep, Dislike Plant, Hate Page.

RIP Bonham.

9. is it ok to admit this here?
i really really really really dislike the sound of robert plant's voice. it's like nails on a chalkboard to me. and i blame him for every other falsetto schreeching lead singer who has come since. my husband thinks it's funny to crank led zeppelin and watch my head explode.

24. You're not alone
I love some of their music, but Plant's voice can really irritate me. Particularly the screeching thing. And, his vocals have a tendency to be overly acrobatic. I have the same problem with Axel Rose's voice - when he starts doing the screech I'm grinding my teeth.

Before I'm accused of liking Yes, I can assure you that I utterly loathe them.

As far as rock voices go, I love Jagger, Lennon, Knopfler, Clapton, Tom Waits, The Clash, Pogues....you get the idea.

I also saw Led Zeps first two tours.
