The Vaisala lightning strike map suggests that all that stuff is going to pass by to my south, thank gawd.

Hope it doesn't get too bad down there.

9. strike map
https://thunderstorm.vaisala.com/tux/jsp/explorer/explorer.jsp

The strike map displays cloud-to-ground lightning strikes in the US. Every colored dot represents a ground strike, and the color of each dot tells you how much time has elapsed since the bolt hit. By paying attention to all the various colors, you can kind of tell how a storm is moving. Red will be on the leading edge of the storm, and purple on the trailing edge.

That's just the free map. They also have some very detailed stuff for subscribers.

5. We have had a very wet May in Idaho
no one can complain because we are actually having a drought. Not enough snow pack in the mountains to keep our reservoirs full for the irrigation of our semi-desert lands. Meanwhile all my cool poppies and bachelor buttons are laying down like dead soldiers, behind my house. I love the sunshine. Hope some comes your way. A little ray is currently trying to peek through a cloud here, just now.

6. There was something on the History Channel
this morning at ungodly AM (I do the night audit and this is the only time I see any TV) about a tornado that hit Boston back in the early 50s.
