YYYYAAAAYYY XRays & Bloodwork Came back negative
i have had HORRIBLE abdominal pain for the last 3 days. was up all night with it. hurts like HELL right now! :grr:

anyhoo, went to the doc today. he poked and proded, sent me to the hospital for bloodwork and xrays for tumors. since we have been through this with Mrs Matcom (more than 5 years ago thank her very much), i was pretty nervous.

he just called. all negative. might be food poisening or just an infection (stomach flu or something)

it hurts like hell right now (still) :grr: but it ain't nutin' major! :bounce:

looks like this too shall pass ;)

I have periodic bouts with something similar. Feels like the Hindenburg is inside me, and it hurts like hell.

I hope the pain goes away soon.

11. I've tried all manner of gas remedies, but they don't work.
The pink stuff does the best. Aside from that I have to sit in a certain position to be comfortable.

I can't sleep, and any pressure on my stomach hurts like hell. I missed a good friend's wedding because of this.

7. do you still have your appendix. I had horrible abdominal pain
for a couple of days, then it moved to my right side. Yep, apendicitus.

22. and don't necessarily trust the doctors. My regular doctor who is an
internist didn't think it was appendicitis. It was the day before Christmas Eve, so they sent me through the emergency room at the local hospital. They didn't think I had appendicitis. I went down to radiology for some type of scan and the radiologist said that if I did have appendicitis it was a very mild case of it. I was in the process of changing jobs, and told them if they were gonna need to operate, now was the time. I HEAVILY insisted and they finally decided to do the surgery. I woke up to the female surgeon telling me that "I don't know what the radiologist was talking about, your appendix was definitely swollen, and you definitely have appendicitis." I asked her if it was close to bursting and she said that if they had let me go home without doing the surgery, there was a VERY good chance I would be back in the ER on Christmas with a burst appendix.

Moral to the story: go to Web MD AND several other medical sites. Check out the symptoms and compare them to yours. And appendicitis hurts like hell in the general lower-ish abdomen in the early stages. Then it tends to localize in the lower right. Oh, and you don't want that puppy to burst. That's when it moves from a relatively routine procedure to life-threatening.

I also thought appendicitis was something kids get, not 48 year old men. WRONG!

Take care of yourself.

14. Good to hear, matcom! Try this
yay!

We don't need any more sick people around here. :grr:

Try eating or drinking anything with ginger*. Ginger does help digestion. Ginger snaps, crystalized ginger, fresh ginger, make a tea with it.

*Except national ginger ale brands. If you find a local boutique one, that likely still has ginger in it.

23. great and a possible suggestion
A relative of mine had horrible abdominal pain and all tests came back negative. She finally learned that it was caused by the cereal and milk she was eating every morning. Apparently it is not uncommon to develop lactose intolerance after a certain age. You might want to try it.

You can still eat cheese because it doesn't have lactose. But avoid liquid milk for awhile. She really thought she was going to die, the pain was so severe, she had no idea that lactose intolerance could have those symptoms.

and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

37. From what I am reading ----no
but anything associated with a pregnancy is at least a little serious. They didn't have her rushing in for treatment though.

Really high sugar level, she is hypoglacimic so this isn't completely unexpected.

Generally it goes away after birth but it does increase her chances of diabetes later and the baby's risk of obesity.

Take care...really take care.
