Terrific line from "Animaniacs"

A friend of mine has most of the "Animaniacs" shows on tape, and we are watching an episode where Yakko, Wakko and Dot are tormenting a Howard Stern-like character.
(He's a nasty bird named "Howard Tern.")

But "Tern" asks the trio why they didn't go bother Rush Limbaugh.
Yakko says, "We were afraid he'd eat us."

I nearly fell over laughing.

BTW, didn't "Beavis and Butthead" have a Limbaugh-like character in one of their shows?

I watched the Animaniacs couple years ago..(when I was 10) and I had no idea they made mentions to people like that. Hmm.

There were times the satire on Animaniacs and Freakazoid got almost savage.

5. Pinky and the Brain

was full of humor that most kids wouldn't get either.

Like the one episode, Brain plotted a scheme to show the world's biggest tear jerker "Brain's Song" and while everyone was crying from it, he'd seize power. When the sad part happened, it cuts to "the G Gordon Liddy Show" and it shows Liddy crying like a baby.

4. Everytime I see a picture of W...

...I think of one of the Animaniacs best lines:

"If I promise to miss you, will you go away?"

(I'm sure the writers stole that from Groucho Marx, or W.C. Fields)

8. I watched Animaniacs all through my teen years

I'm convinced that show was never intended for little kids. The only humor they would have gotten is the sight gags and endless amounts of falling anvils. Other than that, the show was too high brow for the kiddies. I mean really, how many kids would have really gotten "The Goodfeathers", its not like gangster movies are big among the nose picking crowd.

Animaniacs = comedy gold.

9. Three toons that should be on the air, dammit

Animaniacs.

Freakazoid, the most surreal cartoon I've even seen.

And Earthworm Jim, the galaxy's mightiest invertebrate. I still remember his sidekick doing the Bene Gesserit "Fear is the mind-killer" chant. Classic.
