If you can't handle General Discussion then how can you handle...
...when some republican starts disagreeing with you in public, in front of others who your answer could possibly provide necessary information for those who are listening.

I love GD (Actually I love GD Politics even more) because it hones my skills in the art of discussion. It also provides me additional viewpoints about the hot topics that maybe I wasn't aware of or didn't completely understand. But the great thing about GD is it helps strenghten my skills of discussion and debate because believe me, at least once a month I'll be standing around with a group of people and some idiotic republican will make some dumbass comment. And thanks to GD, I feel encouraged to discuss the issue and even work the points to prove my point. And hopefully those who might be listening who may not be so inclined to go either republican or democrat will find my talking points to be the most rational.

Remember, we're all progressive thinkers and we are pretty much all on the same team and we all have one main ultimate goal and that is getting rid of the Bush Administration and trying to undo what has happened. We may have different ways of getting there and different ideas of other things we should be fighting for. But we should never run away!

1. I'm with you, Lynne Sin
I relish a good argument with the freepers, because they have not answers to the statements I make.

Here at DU, it might be because of the anonymity. I enjoy looking my prey right in the eye as I detail the atrocities of this administration.

3. I think anyone can handle the truth only if they are willing to try
I mean how can you know the truth if you are scared to go to the place where you can learn it.

4. I don't care for debating on GD.
I love it in RL and do a smash up job of it. I read GD and GDP every single day but usually stay out of the arguments. Why? Because I don't care for flamewars and I hate to fight w/ my brothers and sisters (which is what some of the posts turn into-sibling squabbles).
I am one of those strange people who gets a rush out of looking someone in the eye and watching them twitch when I make a valid argument that they know they cannot give any kind of rebuttal. It gives me an immense feeling of satisfaction when I can point out exactly how their political beliefs have f*cked up our country and have our forefathers rolling over in their graves.
Online just doesn't feel the same (and certain "other" sites just don't cut in when it comes to political discussion).

6. I agree
I live in Texas, so I'm surrounded by red people. GD is nothing compared to daily life sometimes.
