According to local tv, we are about to have one of the largest fireworks shows ever in the US. All local stations are reporting live. 150,000 people.

Looks like fun, and they are just going on and on about the fireworks that are supposed to be just stupendous, and Kool and the Gang will perform, and I'll probably watch it, but ... its all about a bridge.

we're going from this:

to this:

I guess it is something.

1. Looks just like the Delaware Memorial Bridge
and another bridge near Richmond, Va.

but this was Disney caliber. Pretty cool.

It was set to music, wide variety, classical, classic patriotic, country, rock - they even played Bruce.

No politicians there (seeking camera attention, anyway).

3. I thought about coming down to walk over it, but Charleston weather
is not too encouraging of such activities in July. Fond as I was of the old bridges in theory, they tended to cause me great anxiety, especially the older one (especially back in Governor's School in 1978, going over it in a school bus).

5. I cannot imagine coming over that old bridge in a scool bus
that is one scary drive in compact car.

Tomorrow's the last day to drive the old ones.

6. The drivers were high school students, too (or recent grads;
1978 was a long time ago.) I think I just kept my eyes closed.
